The adult Karate classes combine the most effective techniques from American, Japanese, and Chinese martial arts. The system encompasses all forms of personal combat, including grappling, blocking, parrying, punching, striking, thrusting, sweeping, throwing, kicking, the joint  techniques of locking, hyper-extending, dislocating, choking techniques and the use of external weaponry for self-protection.

The focus of the system is self defense, and each class includes:

  • Strengthening and stretching the body.

  • Performing sparring and drilling exercises.

  • Practicing prearranged 'ippons', with the emphasis on developing the ability to end conflict in a single blow.

  • Understanding that one must always practice with total concentration, control, and sincerity.

  • Defending yourself and your family when there are no rules, referees or rounds.

CHILDREN'S KARATE

Children's  Karate Classes at East Coast MMA combine physical exercise, mental stimulation, discipline, and practical self-defense skills that can benefit every child.

Children start by learning traditional dojo etiquette, self-control and respect while learning blocks, kicks, punches and other nonphysical ways to fend of bullies or other opponents.

Classes are grouped by age:

Ages 5-8

Ages 8-12
